Adolescent Mediation & Family Therapy (FACES)

FACES is a counselling service for young people (aged between 10-21 years) and their parents or caregivers. The aim of the program is to help improve the communication between parents and their children. The counsellors work towards helping families develop skills to resolve these difficulties. 
Payment is on a sliding scale according to income.

Canberra Family Support Service

This is a service for families with children up to 12 years old, who are experiencing difficulties and are in need of practical support. The service aims to help families use and further develop their existing skills and resources as well as providing links into the community.

Rural Counselling

This program provides counselling to individuals, couples or families in some rural areas. The parameters for eligibility are broad, and include relationship issues, coping with change & loss, depression, anxiety, anger management etc.
This is a free service.

Education, Skills & Training

·         Family Relationship, Education, Skill & Training (FREST)

This program provides in-house as well as outreach Parenting Programs during school terms. The 2-hour presentation offers parents information on a range of topics in the areas of communication and relationship building.

·         Parent & Family Effectiveness Training Course (PET/FET)

This is a skill based training course offered to  parents and adult members of families. Based on Dr. Thomas Gordon’s Effectiveness model, the course emphasises and teaches relationship building, communication skills and strategies. This includes problem solving, family conflict resolution and building respectful relationships.

Family Counselling & Mediation Service
(For carers & families supporting a person with a disability)

This program aims to provide families of a person with a disability, counselling and mediation for any issues which arise from future planning. This may include concerns about the capacity to maintain a caring role, anxieties around what planning for the future entails, defining roles of family members, ensuring decisions made are in the best interests of the whole family and so on.
This service is free of charge.

Family Relationship Counselling

This program offers individuals, couples and families an opportunity to explore and develop solutions to managing relationship issues and difficulties. This may include coping with loss and change, conflict resolution, step-parenting, parenting after separation etc.

Homelinx

Homelinx is a CatholicCare Youth Housing program funded by the ACT Department of Disability Housing and Community Services. The Program provides a housing outreach service to young people aged 15-25 years, who are homeless or at risk of homelessness and live in the ACT region. The Program can offer assistance to young people by helping them to find affordable, stable and independent accommodation as well as teaching participants living skills such as budgeting, cooking and cleaning to assist them to gain and maintain independence. The Program operates Monday - Friday 9.00am - 5.00pm.

New Arrival Humanitarian Service

This is a program for people arriving in Australia through the Integrated Humanitarian Settlement Strategy (IHSS) and is funded by the Department of Immigration & Citizenship. The aim of the program is to provide a resettlement service to refugees which will assist them to develop the knowledge, skills & resources required to establish their new life in the Australian community.

Reconnect

Reconnect is an early intervention Program that aims to reconnect young people aged 12 to 18 who are homeless or at risk of homelessness and their families. The Program has strong linkages with community agencies and offers an outreach model of service delivery. Reconnect aims to keep young people connected with their families, school and community by increasing opportunities, choices and support. Reconnect is funded by Family and Community Services, Indigenous Affairs (FaHCSIA) and operates Monday - Friday 9.00am - 5.00pm.

CatholicCare operates the Reconnect program in the ACT, as well as the Central West including West Wyalong Cowra, Grenfell, Canowindra, Blayney, Molong and Boorowa.  The offices are located in Watson, Cowra and West Wyalong.

Relationship Education

The Relationship Education Program provides courses in pre-marriage education. Couples contemplating or preparing for marriage can choose from 2 programs. The first involves a pre-marriage questionnaire and a facilitated feedback session, while the alternative is a group program where relationship issues are discussed through a variety of formats.
There is a cost associated with these programs.

Student and Family Counselling

This programme offers counselling and support for students (and their families) attending Catholic schools in the Canberra-Goulburn Archdiocese. The focus is to assist a student with any issues relating to their emotional, social or educational wellbeing.

Support Options (HACC)

Support Options is a HACC funded program which provides ‘Social Support, Domestic Assistance, Personal Care and limited Case Management’ to adults with a moderate, severe or profound intellectual disability. Priority is given to people who in the absence of the support, within the scope of the program, are at risk of premature or inappropriate long term residential care.

Youth and Wellbeing Program

The Youth and Wellbeing Program is funded through ACT Health. The purpose is to support young people in the community between 12 to 25 years of age who have a mental health condition and/or drug and alcohol, anger and behavioural concerns and related issues. The staff at Youth and Wellbeing aim to encourage resilience and independence through a process of support, education and advocacy. Referrals can be made over the phone on the numbers listed below.
